Business Foundations for New Entrepreneurs

A shield-shaped badge with a black background and white border that reads 'Approved SEAP Provider' in white text.

A legal and business education program for people who are ready to build something, led by a Washington State business attorney who can actually answer your questions.

If you received a letter from ESD about SEAP, it means you're eligible to keep collecting unemployment benefits while you work on launching your business. That's real support, and this program is designed to help you make the most of it.

Most SEAP programs give you a curriculum and a coach. This one gives you something different: direct access to a licensed Washington State business attorney with over ten years of in-house legal experience. The sessions are covered by attorney-client privilege, which means you can bring your actual situation, not a cleaned-up version of it, and get real answers.

Here's what that looks like in practice. You work through a printed workbook at your own pace covering the legal and operational basics every new business owner needs: entity structure, contracts, employment, and risk. Then we meet one-on-one. You bring your questions. If you have a lease you're about to sign, we look at it. If you're not sure whether the person you want to hire should be a contractor or an employee, we work through it. If something comes up that has real legal weight, we address it directly rather than pointing you somewhere else.

The curriculum is the starting point. The sessions are where it gets applied to your actual business.

What's included with enrollment

Entrepreneurial Training: A structured curriculum covering entity structure, contracts, employment basics, and risk management. You work through it in a printed workbook at your own pace and bring your questions to each session.

Individual Counseling: All sessions are covered by a limited scope engagement agreement, which defines what's included in our work together. It's separate from attorney-client privilege, which protects the confidentiality of what we discuss.

Technical Assistance: Direct legal and practical support throughout the program. Document review, compliance questions, guidance on contracts, licensing, entity decisions, and referrals to accountants, insurance brokers, and other resources.

SEAP Application Help: We help you complete your SEAP application before your first session so your benefits stay in place while you're enrolled.

One track, your schedule

$199 per session. Minimum eight sessions within 12 months. No fixed calendar, no cohort schedule to keep up with. You book sessions when you're ready and we work through the material together at your pace.

The first step is a free 30-minute Program Q&A Call. We'll talk through the program, answer your questions, and start your SEAP application if you're ready. No commitment required.
